-
In your first appointment we’ll discuss your health history, current concerns, eating patterns, lifestyle, and goals. I’ll listen with a non-judgemental ear, ask questions, and work to understand what's happening for you. Together, we’ll identify any barriers and start building practical strategies that fit your life. You'll leave with clear, achievable next steps and a plan tailored to you.
-
No, you don't need a referral to book an appointment with me. If you would like to access Medicare rebates you will need a referral from your GP with a Chronic Disease Management Plan or Eating Disorder Care Plan.
-
Yes! If you have a Chronic Disease Management Plan from your GP, you may be eligible for a Medicare rebate of approximately $61.80 per dietitian appointment.
What you need to know:
You'll need a current referral or management plan from your GP that includes allied health services. This allows you to access up to 5 Medicare-rebated allied health appointments per calendar year—and this applies across all allied health providers (like dietitians, physiotherapists, and exercise physiologists combined).
The rebate doesn't cover the full cost of your appointment. You'll typically pay the consultation fee upfront, and then claim the rebate back through Medicare, or I can process it electronically for you if preferred.
A few things to keep in mind:
Medicare rebate amounts are updated each year (usually from July 1), so the amount may change slightly over time. If you've reached your Medicare Safety Net, you may be eligible for a higher rebate. Different rebate rules may apply if you're accessing care under a specific eating disorder plan—your GP or I can help clarify this for you.
If you're unsure whether you're eligible or need help organising your GP referral, just let me know—I'm happy to guide you through the process.
Private health insurance:
Most private health insurers also provide rebates for dietitian consultations, though the amount depends on your level of cover. I recommend checking with your fund before your appointment. I can provide you with receipts and any documentation needed for claiming.
-
This really depends on your individual needs and goals. Nutrition and lifestyle changes take time, and everyone's journey looks different. Some people feel well-supported after a few sessions, while others benefit from ongoing appointments for coaching, accountability, and fine-tuning strategies as life evolves. We'll work together to figure out what feels right for you—there's no pressure, and you're always in control of how we proceed.
